ROBYN Gibson, the Australian wife married to Mel Gibson for 28 years and mother to their seven children, defended her soon-to-be-ex-husband in a statement filed in court Thursday, denying the Braveheart actor ever abused her or their children, TMZ reports.

"Mel never engaged in any physical abuse of any kind toward me before, during or after our marriage," Robyn - who filed for divorce from Mel in April 2009 citing irreconcilable differences - wrote in a declaration filed Thursday.
