Falcon Dam and the cartels
Comment on this article that I thought very appropriate
-----------------
They can smuggle drugs in by the tractor-trailer load - so what makes you think they can't get a truckload to the dam?

McCain and Bush -"We attack them abroad before they attack US at home
EXCERPT:
"Many terrorists who kill … on the streets of Baghdad are followers of the same murderous ideology that took the lives of citizens in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania. There is only one course of action against them: to defeat them abroad before they attack us at home."

Bush was echoed by Sen. John McCain. Those terrorists in Iraq, McCain told Larry King, "are the same guys who would be in New York if we don't win." We fight the terrorists over there so we do not have to fight them over here.

Trans Texas corridor watch
EXCERPT:
You might have seen the headline, but what exactly does that mean

October 9, 2009

Is the Trans-Texas Corridor dead?

No it is not dead. But it is mortally wounded and expected to die.

Criticism of the TTC has recently developed into a high profile campaign issue (again) making the timing of this “No Build Alternative” announcement highly suspect as being politically motivated.

The problem is the TTC can’t die soon enough.

Highways developed using federal funds are required to comply with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Because of the extensive legal process involved, the final decision called the Record of Decision, can’t be issued until sometime in 2010 at the earliest. In any case it just can’t happen before the March primaries next year, and maybe not even before November general election.

Texas Trans Corridor
EXCERPT:
Backers of the corridor, which was to parallel Interstate 35, promoted it as a state-of-the art toll corridor that would increase international trade and eliminate traffic congestion.

Opponents objected to the taking of so much private land and to the tolls and argued the corridor would increase drug trafficking.

Allegory wikipedia
EXCERPT:
Allegory is a figurative mode of representation conveying meaning other than the literal. Allegory communicates its message by means of symbolic figures, actions or symbolic representation. Allegory is generally treated as a figure of rhetoric, but an allegory does not have to be expressed in language: it may be addressed to the eye, and is often found in realistic painting, sculpture or some other form of mimetic, or representative art. Simply put, an allegory is a device that can be presented in literary form, such as a poem or novel, or in visual form, such as in painting or sculpture. As a literary device, an allegory in its most general sense is an extended metaphor. As an artistic device, an allegory is a visual symbolic representation. An example of a simple visual allegory is the image of the grim reaper. Viewers understand that the image of the grim reaper is a symbolic representation of death. Nevertheless, images and fictions with several possible interpretations are not allegories in the true sense. Furthermore, not every fiction with general application is an allegory.

The Magnificent Seven an allegory for Afghanistan]
EXCERPT:
August 7, 2010 by Aaron Ellis
I have written before about the relationship between Westerns and international relations, and I realised the other evening that The Magnificent Seven can be viewed as an allegory for Afghanistan. The parallels between the two are not exact, obviously. We invaded Afghanistan in response to September 11th, whereas the outsiders in the film are hired by villagers in Mexico to protect them from local bandits terrorising their community. It is towards the end that the similarities begin to become apparent, however. The Seven defeats the bandits initially and then starts training the villagers to fight for themselves, but when it is discovered that the bandits have regrouped, it triggers friction between the locals and the outsiders.
